As has been stated lots of times before on this blog “It is a bad thing to be wishing for big Governmental databases”. Today another example: ‘1 miljoen geen baan door fouten in Franse politiedatabank‘ translated ‘One million affected in job due to errors in French police database’.

The French police uses a database to store all criminals and victims. Of course policemen have to fill this database, note that they are in general not very high educated, in short the database had a huge human error rate.
French privacy watchdog (CNIL) survey estimated that in 83 % of the database records mistakes were made, causing issue’s like e.g. victims to be marked as criminals. Since companies check the database during job applications this resulted in aprox 1 million people being not hired or even fired. How Kafka is that ?
